Besides – and especially by – making design objects, we are getting to know mycelium better and better. The unprecedented opportunities, but certainly also the limits. We are therefore constantly experimenting with larger objects (how big can a structure be). We also test impregnation solutions in batch and out batch to make the mycelium water-tight and mould-proof.

Below is a photo of a large object (diameter is 55 cm) that we have grown hollow. The result: a very strong object with minimal substrate.
